Characteristics Of Transparent Raw Materials Commonly Used in Plastics
Jan 20, 2023
Due to the advantages of light weight, good toughness, easy molding, and low cost, plastics are more and more used in daily products to replace glass, especially in optical instruments and packaging industries, and their development is particularly rapid. However, since it is required to have better transparency, higher wear-resistant parts, and better impact-resistant tough parts, a lot of work must be done on the composition of plastics, the entire process of injection molding, equipment, molds, etc., to ensure that these materials are used to replace glass. The plastic (hereinafter referred to as transparent plastic) has a good surface quality, so as to meet the requirements of use.
At present, the transparent plastics commonly used in the market include polymethyl methacrylate (commonly known as acrylic or plexiglass, code-named pmma), polycarbonate (code-named pc). Polyethylene terephthalate (code-named pet), transparent nylon, as (acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer), polysulfone (code-named psf), etc. Among them, we have the most contact with pmma, pc and pet Plastics, due to limited space, the following three plastics are used as examples to discuss the characteristics of transparent plastics and the injection molding process.
