Nanofiltration

Nanofiltration is a pressure-driven membrane separation process between reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration, with nanofiltration membranes having pore sizes in the range of a few nanometers.Nanofiltration (NF) is used to separate substances with small relative molecular masses, such as inorganic salts or small organic molecules such as glucose and sucrose, from solvents. Nanofiltration, also known as low-pressure reverse osmosis, is an emerging field of membrane separation technology with a separation performance between reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration, allowing some inorganic salts and certain solvents to pass through the membrane, thus achieving separation.

 

Nanofiltration membrane filter(NF) is more and more widely used in electronic, food and pharmaceutical industries , such as ultra pure water preparation, fruit juice high concentration , peptide and amino acid separation, antibiotic concentration and purification, whey protein concentration.Compared with Ultrafiltration or Ro system ,the Nanofiltration has poor retention of univalent ions and organics with molecular weight between 200 and 500 .
